Branxton is in the Local Government Area of City of Cessnock and partly in Singleton Shire. It has two heritage-listed sites, Dalwood House constructed between 1829 – 1838 by George Wyndham on the west bank of the Hunter River and Branxton Railway Station opened in 1862.
